For the rest, the beginning of 2021 has a little taste of 2020 with new lockdowns in Europe, curfews, and restaurants and hotels still being closed.
Therefore, we have found this report from McKinsey “From no mobility to future mobility: Where COVID-19 has accelerated change” to take stock of what is changing with this crisis. They talk about electric vehicles, micro-mobility, the rise of digital technology, but as far as taxis are concerned, here are the main conclusions :

We believe this means 2 things :
-communication: insist on the reduction of risk in a taxi compared to public transport and train (or even plane for short journeys). Customers may have a think about it and change the way they travel for a few months.
-the price criterion has been lowered even more than the others, now is the time to demonstrate the professionalism of taxis.

Good luck to all, we hope that the end of the crisis will take place this year.

LA FONCTIONNALITÉ DU MOIS

DRIVER PRIORITY

A dispatch that gives priority to the drivers who offer the best quality of service? it is possible and it must be done in full transparency with the drivers.

…the final objective being to help them give the best of themselves.

Fleetizen takes a number of criteria into account, such as average score, acceptance rate or dropouts.

Beware, the system should be dynamic enough so that drivers can improve service and see their priority increase over a relatively short period of time.

NEW HEALTH STANDARDS FOR TAXIS

Let’s go back to the McKinsey study quoted above.

These measures should be considered a standard, if you haven’t already done so, it’s time to get started and let people know. Secondly, any innovative local idea is a plus that can make a difference in overcoming this difficult period.

Here are their observations:

PRESS REVIEW MOBILITY

UK taxi fleets shrink but stay optimistic for post-covid

Only 20 weeks in jail for a woman who had assaulted a taxi driver and scream racist insults at him: taxis are also victims of the rise of hate in Western countries but it’s sad to see that we are not better protected.

SIXT ride is now integrated in Google maps: it’s high time taxis step up, create strong partnerships and start competing on that kind of initiatives.

A drunk taxi passenger refused to wear a face mask — so his driver took him to the police station

• In France, people tend to think that the probability of control during curfew is lower if they are in a taxi or a ride hailer. And it maybe true !

Singapore has announced a new set of financial support for drivers
